My husband Kraig is the chief graphic designer here at e9designs. There’s a reason for that… He has the uncanny ability to talk to clients, learn what their business is about, and portray their ideas graphically.
(My job is just to crunch code… no graphic ability here!)
Sometimes he’ll design a site for me. He starts by asking me what I want my site to look like.
Seriously? I have no idea! (If I did, I’d do it myself, eh? That’s why I’m asking you to help me!)
So then he’ll ask me to show him some websites that I like.
Well, I never really thought about it before….
Next he tells me to start a Pinterest board with all the sites I like.
He made one with all his one favorites and ideas. You can see it here…
He also tells me to pay attention to home styles that I like. Knowing if I’m a craftsman-style gal or a modern-edgy gal helps him get to know my personality.
You can see my Pinterest boards here…
This helps me a lot! I don’t know how to describe my style with words, but I know I like something when I see it!
How about you? How do you figure out your own unique style? Are you keeping track of favorites, so that your own website can reflect you?
